Accounting method

« Back to Glossary Index

In the tax field, a system used to determine the amounts subject to taxes, mainly in income taxes and value-added tax (VAT), based on the figures recorded in accounting. The fiscal year of the subject is considered, not that of the government. Both the taxable base of a company and the taxes to be paid or the deductible expenses often differ depending on whether accounting or fiscal criteria are followed.
